Local terrain is mostly pinon / juniper and sage forest, situated at an average elevation of 7,000 feet, largely surrounded by Bureau of Land Management and state property. Wildlife abounds, including deer, elk, wild turkey, eagles, coyote, black bear, bobcat, red & grey foxes and mountain lion. The area is characterized by spectacular views of the San Juan Mountains, Mesa Verde’s Point Lookout, Sleeping Ute Mountain and Utah’s Abajo Range.
