CMR must also be prepared and trained for when a fire strikes our community. It is vital that all of us participate in the May 7th fire drill to train ourselves and to help Montezuma County prepare for the inevitable. Prior to the drill, please provide the following:
1. Fill out the following Emergency Information Form provided by the Sheriff’s Office. The form and more information will follow soon. (A system of identifying which CMR residents have evacuated, and which properties need to be checked is being developed. That is why the Emergency Information Form is vital and why all of us need to participate in the May 7th fire drill)
2. Property owners with horses or other animals that must be evacuated will need to be ready to load their animals and drive them to the Montezuma County Fairgrounds where personnel will be practicing signing the animals in and placing them in designated areas. You will not have to unload your animals.
There will be a community potluck following the drill. This is so members can meet the Montezuma County Emergency Officials and discuss the fire drill. These officials want to know what went well and how to make improvements as they continue to plan emergency responses for the entire County. Your input is vital. It is also an opportunity to meet and thank the Montezuma County First Responders who put their lives on the line for us.
Please watch for future emails and notifications about this important May 7th Fire Drill and Emergency Training exercise. Feel free to call or email with questions:
